Home > Bible Verses, Encouragement, Life > Thankfulness

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” – Colossians 2:6-7 (emphasis added)

Here’s a question for you, why is the day after Thanksgiving a day of coveting? Isn’t that pretty pathetic? When you are giving thanks, it would seem that you are content. How then does it follow that the day after giving thanks… is filled with so much discontentment and unthankfulness?

A few of the things I am thankful for are as follows:

  • God’s grace
  • The Bible from which I can learn
  • Family
  • Friendship
  • The warmth of the wood stove against my back
  • Mugs of tea
  • The traditional brown sugar cake
  • Cookies
  • Laughter and discussion around the dinner table
  • Music
  • Full bookshelves
  • Lots of food
  • The sound of boiling water
  • Clouds fleeing before the wind
  • Games played with siblings
  • And the list goes on…
